Eyelash Logic; 10 expert tips for looking after luscious lashes

Everyone knows that to look your best, you need to look after yourself. Eyelashes, and the day to day strain they are put under, are no exception to this rule, yet many women (and men) forget about them entirely when it comes to their beauty regime. This can lead to serious damaging effects to the eyelashes, and in extreme cases, can lead to the eyelashes falling out completely.

The experts at Eyelash Logic, a revolutionary new product that promotes eyelash growth, have put together a list of tips to help Brits maintain their luscious lashes.

Christopher Stephen, director at Eyelash Logic said, "False eyelashes, waterproof mascara and many other synthetic treatments are increasingly popular these days, yet they can cause significant problems for eyelashes. From irritation of the eye to traumatised hair follicles - there's a real danger of these ‘quick-fix' beauty buys becoming more harmful to self-esteem than it's worth".

Here are Eyelash Logic's 10 top tips for looking after your lashes:

  • The basics - it may sound like a simple solution, but making sure that you always take off your eye makeup at the end of the day is something that many people forget to do. Leaving eye makeup on overnight is not only unhygienic, it can be fatal to the health of the eye itself. If a brittle piece of mascara-coated eyelash breaks off into the eye, it can scratch the cornea.

  • On that note... - always use specialised eye makeup removers. The ‘staying power' that is popular with many makeup brands is difficult to remove with regular facial cleansers, and they can also cause damage to the eye - it's one of the most sensitive areas on the body! Using an eye makeup remover will ensure that you get all of the difficult to remove bits off the lashes and eye area.

  • Moisturising isn't just for the skin - in the same way that you condition your hair, it's really important that you do the same with your lashes. It can help to cure, dry and brittle lashes. Try using natural oils such as coconut oil, sweet almond oil or castor oil. To avoid getting the oils into the eye, use a mascara brush (you can pick these up for free at any department store makeup counter).

  • Stop Scrubbing - when you rub, or scrub, you risk pulling, breaking and damaging the eyelashes and lids. This can eventually traumatise the eyelashes, making it very hard for them to grow them back. Try patting them if itchy, and when removing makeup, always remove gently in one direction.

  • Squeaky clean - cleaning up your evening routine isn't the only thing that is important to eyelash health. Make sure that any makeup you use on the eye area is cleaned regularly; including your mascara wand! Your eyelashes trap dirt that is headed for your eye. If you have never cleaned your mascara wand, do it now - think about all the dirt you are harbouring inside that little tube.

  • Stop sharing - the above point leads directly onto this one. Think of all of the dirt on someone else's eyes being stored in your own cosmetic. Try to avoid sharing your mascara and other eye makeup tools as sharing can lead to infections in the eye.

  • Wave goodbye to falsies - from allergic reactions to the glues used to apply false eyelashes to traumatised natural lashes that never grow back - false eyelashes aren't quite the ‘wonder solution' they are thought to be. They can have a negative effect on natural eyelashes, causing them to fall out and leave patches. Wearers are particularly at risk when ‘doubling-up' on strips of eyelashes, or when sleeping in false eyelashes. The effects of a traumatised eyelash hair follicle can also lead to permanent damage whereby the natural eyelashes don't grow back. False eyelash glue can also cause serious allergic reactions to the skin, but most importantly, the most sensitive area of the face. Perhaps the most shocking effect is that even the slightest irritation to the eye can damage the area, and in the most severe of cases, cause loss of vision entirely.

  • Tools of the trade - avoid using eyelash curlers at all costs as they have a habit of breaking the lashes, pulling them out, and creating dry, brittle lashes that can snap off and enter the eye, putting the cornea at risk of damage.

  • Wet'n'wild - waterproof mascara also plays a huge part in creating stiff, brittle, snappable eyelashes. Another reason to avoid waterproof mascara is that it takes a lot of scrubbing to get it off.

  • The old cliché - we know that eating well leads to better skin, hair and nails, along with many other great advantages. Many people don't realise that it also can have a profound effect on the health of natural lashes too. Increase your vitamin C, E, H and B intake, and make sure you are drinking plenty of water.

Many people believe that their eyelashes are damaged beyond repair (if they are taking note of their eyelash health at all). The experts at Eyelash Logic know that there's safe and more natural way to achieve the long, elegant effect of false lashes without causing damage - it's bottled up in their product. Following an online consultation, they offer a treatment package containing the only clinically proven product to promote natural eyelash growth. Boasting the power to give 25% longer, 106% thicker and 18% darker lashes, naturally, Eyelash Logic is taking the UK by storm after their launch in January this year.
