We've just signed a new author as part of our work for UK publisher Free Association Books that I'd love to share with you! Dr Jane Goldberg is a psychoanalyst, author of a number of books, and founder of New York's longest running spa and wellness centre. My Mother, My Daughter, My Self is a self-revelatory book, combining Dr. Goldberg's insights from working with patients for more than 45 years as a psychoanalyst and her own experience of coming to motherhood in her mid-40s. Why is the mother-daughter relationship so fundamental? How much influence does our relationship with our mothers affect our other significant love relationships, our values, our self-esteem and our sense of satisfaction? The book addresses the question many women consider when they become a mother, and/or move out of home and leave their mother (such as leaving to go to university): "How do we perform the complex and sometimes terrifying act of separation from our mothers and our children, while simultaneously marching toward the unknown territory of individuality?"
We can provide copies of My Mother, My Daughter, My Self for review consideration, and access to Dr Jane Goldberg for interviews, comments and editorial commissions.

ADVANCE INFORMATION SHEET
My Mother, My Daughter, My Self
by Dr. Jane Goldberg
Dr Jane Goldberg's latest book brings a psychoanalytic viewpoint to mother daughter relationships as she seeks to understand just how important they are
Dr. Goldberg waited until her mid-forties before she experienced motherhood and along with the passionate bond that she formed with her daughter there came a professional curiosity: why is this relationship so fundamental?
My Mother, My Daughter, My Self is a self-revelatory work—a psychological and spiritual mosaic. Dr. Goldberg shares her experiences in becoming an adoptive mother, shepherding her own mother through illness and death, and combines them with insights gained from working with patients for over 45 years as a psychoanalyst. In combining intimately personal stories with so much academic training, she demonstrates how the ways we think and feel have their beginnings in our relationships with our mothers.
The book explores an essential truth: that our relationships with our mothers affect our other significant love relationships, our values, our self-esteem, and our sense of satisfaction, often throughout the whole of our lives.
Dr. Goldberg addresses the complicated nature of mother daughter relationships by acknowledging the oxymoronic nature of the relationship as both parties are simultaneously seeking individuality and closeness.
The book is about maintaining intimacy with both closeness and separateness: we want both; we need both.
