A greyhound from Cardiff Dogs Home has appeared on Channel 4's popular pet programme ‘Animal Rescue Live'.

The greyhound called Echo was filmed arriving at the home and then on location in Newcastle last week for the TV show presented by star of ‘The Supervet' - Professor Noel Fitzpatrick and the Welsh TV presenter Steve Jones.

Echo is just under 3 years-old and is a very affectionate greyhound. He was rescued from Ystrad Mynach Race Track at the end of his racing career.

Manager of Cardiff Dogs Home, Maria Bailie said: "Echo certainly made a lot of friends up in Newcastle where he was a big hit on set with Noel and the rest of the crew. Echo is a natural in front of the camera and it was a great experience for all concerned. TV programmes like this offer a great opportunity to raise awareness of the plight of dogs like Echo and we hope to find a good home for him as a result of this national coverage. Noel also presented some of the other very positive aspects of the work we do at Cardiff Dogs Home including the volunteering opportunities, our work with young people, the LAC apprenticeship scheme, emergency boarding and also the opportunities for vulnerable adults."

Cardiff Dogs Home is based on the Westpoint Industrial Estate on Penarth Road and is open from 10:30am until 4pm seven days a week with late opening until 6pm Monday & Thursday. They re-home between 400-500 dogs each year. They can be contacted on 029 2071 1243.
