Environmental concerns can be banished for good with Composite Decking, reports SEAC LTD

Composite decking manufacturers SEAC LTD aim to educate UK customers on the ecologically friendly aspects to choosing composite materials rather than traditional wood for their decking choices, helping to reduce the impact on landfill sites and much more.

Traditionally some examples of composite materials used for outdoor decking contained toxic preservatives or bonding agents such as formaldehyde or epoxy resins that could easily pollute exterior environments. SEAC LTD developed their fiberon® decking following the three ‘R’s’ – Recycle, Reduce and Reuse, producing environmentally friendly, superior quality solid decking that outstrips wood decking by a superb margin.

Producing a finished item that incorporates a large amount of recycled wood used in the manufacture of internal flooring and by furniture makers; recycled domestic maple wood being the choice for SEAC LTD as it can be used across the entire colour range and some recycled HDPE plastic that creates a strong, durable and long lasting decking choice, SEAC LTD effectively saves over 33,800 tons of used plastic and wood that would have otherwise ended up either in landfill sites or cremated in incinerators every single year.

Whilst buyers may still consider standard wooden decking boards for projects in their gardens or patio areas because of the cheaper price, one aspect that they may not realise is the long term savings they can make by spending that little bit more on their initial outlay. Not to mention the ecological benefits of choosing a composite variety that offers so many positive pros when compared to standard materials.

Leicester based SEAC LTD continually focus on developing ecologically sound methods of increasing recycling within their extensive product range and operations. SEAC LTD’s spokesperson set out the basic benefits of their composite decking, saying:

“The price difference between traditional hard wood and our composite decking board is only slight, with composite presenting a far more stable, safe and durable material that requires virtually no maintenance.” Adding that, “The slightly higher price for our composite boards is easily offset against its higher quality. Further to the environmental benefits we focus on, our operations save thousands of tons of materials each year from landfill dumps and the use of closed loop water cooling systems enable us to make a dramatic reduction on our carbon footprint and in turn, those of our customers too.”

With many manufacturers across a variety of industries now investing more in composite technology, the reduction in waste materials being sent to landfill sites could mean a greener future, progressively lowering the ecological damage that is produced in many manufacturing environments at the moment. SEAC LTD continues to research further into ways they can reduce their carbon impact and reassure the public that composite materials are the way forward.
