Cannock-based materials handling equipment specialist, Briggs Equipment, has been acknowledged with a major trade award nomination for its commitment to social responsibility.

The company, which has its headquarters in Orbital Way, has been shortlisted for theCorporate Social Responsibility Awardin the SHD Logistics Awards 2015. The nomination recognises Briggs Equipment's extensive charitable works, commitment to a local and national wider citizen programme and support for its customers.  The company takes a responsible and ethical approach to business, which includes a commitment to putting corporate social responsibility (CSR) at the heart of its operations

While charity fundraising is a key element of Briggs Equipment's CSR policy, it is also committed to helping develop the next generation of engineers. The company is therefore taking a leading role, working closely with the British Industrial Truck Association Academy, to improve the quality of apprenticeships across the materials handling industry.

Thanks to ongoing investment in Briggs Academy, a dedicated learning and development resource, employees are encouraged to take responsibility for their personal and career development and are given every assistance to help them fulfil their potential.

CSR is also central to Briggs Equipment's approach to customer service. Working in partnership with its customers to develop their businesses, Briggs Equipment helps customers reduce their carbon footprint, secure major fuel cost savings by enforcing safe and efficient driving practices and change attitudes to health and safety.

Gary Clements, Strategic Development Director, at Briggs Equipment, says: "Corporate social responsibility is integral to our company values and while many people think of it as giving to charities or supporting community projects, we see it having a much wider impact across

the whole company and the way we do business.

"We are delighted that our efforts to promote CSR in everything we do, from customer service

and health and safety to purchasing and training, have been recognised by an SHD Logistics Awards nomination."

The winners of the second annual SHD Logistics Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on March 19, which will celebrate the achievements of the very best companies within the intralogistics and supply chain sectors.
