Heart, Broken: My Journey to Self-Healing
(Red Letter Books, March 2016)

By Jackie Mannell

Jackie Mannell puts forward a powerful memoir that conveys a passionate and life-changing message for anyone in crisis: youcanheal yourself, you do have a choice and you can make a change.

Listen to Jackie Mannell's interview on BBC Radio Sussex: Jackie Mannell

"We have the power within ourselves to change."

Jackie knew she had a heart problem even before it was diagnosed. Her cranial osteopath had warned her. She relented and went to the doctor's, where she was finally sent home with a prescription on a path to life-long medication and the threat of impending surgery. Then in her late 40s, Jackie had never taken medication before, and had no intention of starting. Without them though, how would her heart improve? Within three months of embarking on her self-healing journey a rather surprised doctor declared her fit and healthy.

[image]Heart, Brokenis an inspiring life story presenting the catalogue of relationships, experiences and beliefs that ultimately led to Jackie's heart diagnosis. This unique and motivating memoir seeks to inspire every person who feels stuck, trapped or lost (in their career, relationships, health or life in general) that theycantake responsibility, regain control and follow a path to self-healing.

This is Jackie's life story; from her happy but complicated ‘alternative' childhood to school bullying, the loss of her mother who died in her arms tragically young, a series of toxic relationships and into motherhood, finally. This is a personal self-healing journey that encompasses so much more than ‘just' ill health. For Jackie has lived what seems like 50 lives in her 50 years. Her journey has passed through immense suffering to the discovery of a universal lesson: you can control your destiny and turn your life around for the better. The emotions she suppressed from childhood would ultimately break her, unless she tackled them head-on, in order to truly heal herself.

Heart, Brokenis Jackie's shocking, heartwarming, inspiring life story, unravelling the long journey of discovery to self-healing.
