DEDICATION AND UNVEILING OF THE BOMBER COMMAND MEMORIAL
Wednesday 24 April 2012
Bomber Command Association
The Bomber Command Memorial, under construction in The Green Park, London, will be dedicated and unveiled on 28 June 2012. The Memorial will commemorate the 55,573 airmen of Bomber Command who gave their lives in World War Two.
Due to the very high demand for tickets, the hearteningly large number of veterans wishing and able to attend the event, and the many enquiries we receive every day, the Bomber Command Association wishes to announce a ‘final call' for applications from relatives of the 55,573 who were killed serving in Bomber Command during World War Two, veterans of Bomber Command in World War Two and their next of kin for a further period until 1stJune 2012.
We have started writing to the several thousand who have already applied for a ticket with an update this week. We now only have standard seats available in our Large Screen Salute Area which because of the topography of The Green Park have no direct view of the Memorial itself.
For those still wishing to attend who have not yet contacted us and are a relative of the 55,573 or a veteran of Bomber Command, please contact Caroline Susan Coles for an application form at:

Notes to Editors:
The Memorial will honour the 55,573 airmen who lost their lives in World War II. Designed by architect Liam O'Connor, who previously designed the Armed Forces Memorial in Staffordshire, the Memorial will feature as its centrepiece a nine foot high bronze by sculptor Philip Jackson depicting a
seven-man bomber crew returning to base after operations. It is under construction in the North West corner of The Green Park, adjacent to Piccadilly. The construction of Memorial has been made possible by public donation and by the generous support of three of Britain's most successful entrepreneurs and committed philanthropists - John Caudwell, Lord Ashcroft and Richard Desmond. After the its Dedication, the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund will take over the ownership and future maintenance of the Memorial.

An Op Note detailing the accreditation process for the event will be sent out shortly.
