Local employer Briggs Equipment is aiming to bring a bit of Hollywood glamour to Rugeley on Saturday January 23, when its employees take over one of the town's charity shops for the day.
The company will be rolling out the red carpet to welcome shoppers to the Barnardo's store in Fernwood Drive, Rugeley. A team of 10 Briggs employees will be managing the shop from 9am to 5pm and will be pulling out all the stops to sell as much clothing, homewares, books, DVDs and accessories as they can.
Briggs Equipment is taking part in Store Wars, a special Barnardo's initiative that gives people a unique opportunity to try something new while having a lot of fun. Teams compete to see who can generate the most money by running one of its charity shops for a day and all the funds raised go to help disadvantaged children.
It is now more than 10 years since the inception of Store Wars with companies involved raising around £2,000 per event.
Store Wars has grown in popularity year on year and makes a huge difference to Barnardo's. Each year the charity helps to transform the lives of more than 200,000 vulnerable children and young people through 800 projects across the UK. Each project is designed to address a specific issue, ranging from poverty to fostering, adoption and leaving care. For every £1 spent by Barnardo's, 93p goes to help vulnerable children.
Claire Reeves, Rugeley Store Manager Barnardo's said: "Store Wars gives workmates a chance to be inspired and pull together to give something back to their local community.
"We're delighted that Briggs Equipment is taking part in this year's event and can't wait to find out who will appear on the red carpet on January 23."
Toni Campbell, leading the Briggs Store Wars team said: "Our aim is to increase the takings at the Rugeley shop, so we've assembled a top team with a wide range of business and personal skills.
"They will have to draw on all their marketing and sales knowhow, creativity, team-working abilities and customer service skills to increase sales, but we are very much looking forward to it and are planning a few surprises to encourage local people to get involved."
Shoppers will be able to browse a huge range of quality goods that offers great value for money. The Briggs team is also organising special gifts, a prize draw and face painting for the children.
Anyone who would like to support the company in the Store Wars challenge but can't make it to the Barnardo's shop on January 23 can donate viawww.justgiving.com/barnardos
