Norbord kicks off 2016 with new nationwide SterlingOSB
merchant campaign
The
industry-wide, national campaign again gives builders and merchants
alike the tools they need to maintain the Sterling job in 2016 and
encourage sales
Following a busy 30thbirthday year in 2015, Norbord's SterlingOSB brand continues in the same successful vein with a new campaign designed to optimise sales of the stalwart panel through builders' merchants in 2016.
The industry-wide, national campaign again gives builders and merchants alike the tools they need to maintain the Sterling job in 2016 and encourage sales. Designed to highlight SterlingOSB's prowess in a host of general jobs and construction tasks, Norbord's 2016 campaign comprises nationwide advertising and POS support along with PR activities in the media and in branch. Examples include competitions where builders and staff can win experiences, workwear and power tools; and a host of other prizes. A Rewards campaign is designed for the counter staff while engaging social media activity will flow throughout the year.
David Connacher, Norbord's Brand and Communications Manager, comments: "We are excited to see this new, continued campaign rolling out to our committed, and new, merchants across the UK. As market leader for three decades, we want to continue, as we did last year, to provide merchants with the support they need to help their customers see the SterlingOSB benefits. Our battle with plywood is working as some builders are now using SterlingOSB where they may have automatically chosen plywood in the past - as a habit."
Probably the most versatile wood panel product in the UK, Norbord's SterlingOSB can be found on nearly every building site in a vast range of different applications.
SterlingOSB is produced in seven grades, ranging from the SterlingOSB2, used for packaging, hoarding and general temporary works, through to the premium quality SterlingOSB Sitecoat, used for site-hoarding ready to apply housebuilder graphics. It is a genuinely sustainable product, made at Norbord's Inverness factory from timber grown in sustainably-managed local forests in a process powered by renewable heat energy from Norbord's own on-site biomass plant. Produced in a range of thicknesses from 9mm to 22m, SterlingOSB is one of the principal raw materials for many timber frame systems. Sterling Roofdek, a sanded, tongue-and-grooved is designed specifically for use as a decking board for flat roof construction. It is also used, more commonly in Scotland, as a sarking board in pitched roof construction.
SterlingOSB is increasingly finding favour in applications previously dominated by softwood ply. Whereas all ply sold in the UK has to be imported, SterlingOSB is a genuinely home-grown and sustainable product. Furthermore, unlike plywood, there are no knots, cracks or splits in OSB and its strength is consistent literally across the board.
