A Stafford-based housing association has received further recognition for helping to improve the lives of people living in the communities it serves.

Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) collected a highly regarded accolade at the annual Novus Excellence Awards, which took place at Stoke City's Britannia Stadium.

Organised by Novus Property Solutions, a leading property maintenance and building company, the awards are part of the company's Changing Lives initiative. The scheme highlights valuable local projects that deliver life-changing improvements to the housing and facilities of the communities they serve.

The regeneration of a significant housing development in Exeter Street, Stafford, is one such project. SARH, in partnership with Novus, undertook redevelopment and refurbishment work worth £3 million to transform the homes of many SARH customers.

Improvements included new doors, windows and roofing, delivering considerable energy efficiency and aesthetic improvements. Meanwhile, new car parking spaces and landscaping has improved the appearance of the area and reduced congestion on nearby streets.

Karen Armitage, SARH Chief Executive, commented: "This award from an important partner is a great achievement that the whole team can be proud of, particularly as we start our tenth anniversary celebrations. We're thrilled to be recognised for our innovative work in Stafford, which is based on a vision to create neighbourhoods that are fantastic places for customers to live, work and grow in."

Neil Hand, Managing Director of Novus Property Solutions, added: "We place a great deal of emphasis on giving something back and making a difference to the communities in which we operate. Our annual Excellence Awards is just one way to recognise some of the exceptional projects completed.

"We are delighted that SARH shares this commitment and we look forward to working on many more projects together in the coming months and years."
