As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility policy and to reinforce its ongoing commitment to charity support, a Cannock company has pledged it support for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Briggs Equipment, based in Orbital Way, has chosen the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young people with cancer, aged 13 to 24, as its charity partner for this year.

Teenage Cancer Trust develops specialist units within NHS hospitals with expert nursing and support staff who provide the best possible tailored, individual care and information whenever it's needed.

Janet Noble, Chair of the Briggs Charity Team, said: "Each year employees from across our business vote to elect a dedicated charity. For 2016 we are really pleased to be working with Teenage Cancer Trust, as the support and facilities that it provides for teenagers is truly inspiring."

Teenage Cancer Trust is working towards an ambitious goal: to provide specialist help and support to every young person in the UK with cancer by 2020. To make this happen, it needs to raise in excess of £80 million.

Janet Noble continues: "Our goal is to raise £20,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust and throughout the year we will be hosting a series of fun events to generate the funds. The first of these is a marathon spin event, organised by Stuart Mason, which will involve a team of Briggs employees taking up a spinning class for three hours-that's no mean feat!"

Emily Cooper, Regional Fundraiser West Midlands and Oxfordshire, for Teenage Cancer Trust, said "Briggs' fundraising efforts will enable us to support local young people and their families who are affected by cancer. We are really excited about our new partnership and we're looking forward to working closely with the team to help Briggs raise vital funds so young people with cancer don't feel so alone."

Over the last five years Briggs Equipment has donated more than £150,000 to extremely worthy causes including Parkinson's UKMacmillan Cancer Support and Midlands Air Ambulance. The company is also a Patron of The Prince's Trust.
