Evolvi average rail ticket values beat headline increases
The average value of rail tickets purchased by corporate travellers using the EvolviNG online rail booking platform continues to ‘beat' headline fares increases, according to figures released by Evolvi Rail Systems at the Business Travel Show (Feb 24-25).
Despite mandated rises ranging from 3.9% in 2013 to 1.1% last year (2015), smart procurement systems integral to Evolvi enabled business travellers to reduce overall average ticket values across the same period from £59.03 to £58.87. Demand for the platform, available exclusively to travel management companies (TMCs), is reflected in a 6.8% increase in transactions during 2015 to over 7.8m, confirming Evolvi's position as the UK market leader in online agency rail booking and fulfilment.
Says Jon Reeve, Evolvi's Trade Relations Director: "Rail spend management has been transformed over the last decade as a result of increased knowledge about the considerable savings available through the adoption of a policy-driven approach to booking rail.
"Whereas previously rail was widely regarded as not really being worthy of consideration as a managed category, it has now taken its correct place alongside air travel and accommodation as an essential component of business travel provision."
