TREMCO flooring in the education sector
TREMCO's advanced
fast-track flooring systems can really make a difference,
delivering a
durable, damp-proof floor surface in the minimum time
Replacing a failed floor can be an expensive and disruptive task as it renders an entire area of a building un-usable and requires the complete removal and temporary storage of all floor-standing fixtures and furniture.
This can be problematic in a school environment where the opportunities to carry out such work are usually confined to holiday periods. Yet even during these periods, speed of installation is vital to the client.
This is where TREMCO's advanced fast-track flooring systems can really make a difference, delivering a durable, damp-proof floor surface in the minimum time.
British Standard BS8203 requires that new floorcoverings should not be installed when the moisture content in concrete is in excess of 75% relative humidity. In older floors, high moisture readings are often found around floor perimeters and cracks.
A typical TREMCO flooring membrane is quick and straightforward to install, yet it does require careful preparation and attention to detail throughout.
On existing floors, the first step is to remove any existing surface and remove all adhesive residues to leave a clean, sound surface. Any cracks, repairs or static joints should be chased out and pre-filled with TREMCO ES200 Rapid Drying DPM, bulked out with kiln dried sand if the gaps are wide. The resin surface is then blinded with sand and allowed to cure for four to five hours.
TREMCO SX400 Rapid Repair Mortar is ideal for repairing hollow or damaged areas, curing in just 15 minutes; the surface can then be smoothed with TREMCO SX300 NA High Performance Latex and allowed to dry for 90 minutes.
On floors with a smooth, dry surface free of defects or contaminants, TREMCO ES100 Single Coat DPM can be applied directly, taking care to extend the new DPM 50mm up the wall to ensure good damp proofing. This product cures in five or six hours under normal conditions.
After the DPM has cured, TREMCO CS100 Epoxy Primer is applied, followed by TREMCO SX300 NA High Performance Latex Underlayment after which the floor is ready to receive its new surface, such as PVC or composite sheets or tiles.
