Remous Print announced as national finalist in Print Awards
Based on the Dorset/Somerset border, Remous Print has been announced as a finalist in the national Print, Design & Marketing Awards 2016. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony taking place aboard the Silver Sturgeon on the River Thames on Thursday 30 June 2016.
The business has reached the finals for best printed marketing collateral after entering its own Print Unlimited brochure. Alan Bunter, director at Remous Print, explains the thinking behind its very innovative brochure.
He says, "Remous Print was one of the first to install the Komori HUV press in the UK and wanted to capitalise on being the first in the south west, so we created a campaign to catch the imagination of designers and marketeers alike."
The idea was to demonstrate the amazing capability the technology could deliver and combine that with tapping into the frustration some design agencies may experience when faced with the intractability from the ‘old guard' of the print industry.
Remous particularly wanted to reach customers requiring a very fast turnaround on premium quality litho print. The brochure needed to show how the unique light-cure technology achieves instant dryness, plus is more vibrant and consistent than traditional print. This means that rather than waiting for drying, the printed sheets are ready immediately to be turned and printed on the reverse or trimmed and folded.
The Print Unlimited brochure was designed as a tool that could really help customers distinguish and understand the difference the printer could provide. It was printed on many different substrates and finishes, as well as demonstrating a variety of different printing requirements, including spot gloss litho HUV varnish, printing white over 4 colour process and four colour black on uncoated paper.
This is where the name ‘Print Unlimited' came from and Remous decided to extend this to the finishing element by perfect binding the singles leaves of all the different processes thereby achieving the stepped effect and showcasing "print unlimited".
This was reflected in the design concept with the both the design and the production plan evolving together to create the end product.
