Cafe at prestigious Arnolfini museum in Bristol enhanced with beautiful gift from Bristol-based Plaza Plants 

Local Bristol company, Plaza Plants, has gifted one of its beautiful mature olive trees to the Arnolfini as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.  

The beautiful orchard olive (Olea europea) is on show in the Arnolfini Café in Bristol. The Arnolfini made it to the shortlist in the prestigious 2016 ‘Museum of the Year’ awards, recognising exceptional imagination, innovation and achievement in the arts.  

Café manager, Jenny Bongard, said, “Just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU for the safe delivery of the tree this week, it arrived just in time for our visit from the judges of Museum of the Year and has certainly made an impact!” 

Standing at 8 feet tall including the pot, the tree complements the café’s high ceilings and adds an extra dimension to the café bar’s chic surroundings, popular with Bristol’s art lovers and foodies.  

Managing director of Plaza Plants, Iain Coleman, said, “I live and work in Bristol and often visit the Arnolfini with my family, it’s a fantastic art space with some great initiatives for children too and is a charity close to my heart. We’re delighted that the many visitors to the café can enjoy the tree and that it works so well in the space.”  

The orchard olive, one of Plaza Plants’ extensive range of big plants, is available at £699 for one, or £998 for a pair.  

The ‘European’ range includes orange and pomegranate trees, as well as other olives grown in a range of unusual shapes such as mushroom and pompom. The  ‘Exotics’ range includes skyduster palms (Washingtoniarobusta), chusan palms (Trachycarpusfortunei), spineless yucca (Yucca elephantipes), sago palms (Cycasrevoluta) and a stunning oversized cactus at 3 foot wide by 3 foot tall.
