New ELPLAST European facility will run at a capacity of two billion metres from 2017

ELPLAST, which manufactures the press to close zipper EL-ZIP®, has built a new state of the art European facility in Poland due to customer demand. Containing a host of world firsts in re-close manufacturing, the 9,000 square metres plant will run at a capacity of two billion metres from 2017 and provide unprecedented levels of food hygiene and quality procedures.

ELPLAST president, Marcin Pawelak commented: "This considerable investment in our European facility underlines our commitment to providing the best products. ELPLAST continually monitors the needs of our customers and we identify that excellent levels of product quality, vast capacity and outstanding food hygiene standards are part of that."

A vast capacity

The new facility will benefit from automated polymer delivery to its 30 production lines, enabling a capacity of two billion metres. The lines include conveyors and auto roll changers to minimise hand contact with the finished EL-ZIP® products, which will then depart from a dedicated goods out facility.

Best in class for hygiene and quality

Each hygiene and quality element of the new ELPLAST European facility is future proof and provides unprecedented levels of product hygiene. ELPLAST is the only press to close zip manufacturer to install an air-locked production area and schedule employee health checks to minimise human contact with the product. The carefully thought through design also includes water and air treatment zones.

Part of ELPLAST's world leading quality procedures require the entire 250 product range of EL-ZIP® zipper profiles to be systematically checked for dimensional conformance and opening force levels to minimise rejection later down the supply chain. Every single roll is also individually checked before dispatch.

Marketing and innovation director, Caine Folkes-Miller stated: "Our state of the art facility contains a host of world firsts in zipper manufacture. It is simply the best in class in regards to levels of hygiene and quality."

NOTES TO THE EDITOR

ELPLAST originated as a small, family run Polish food packer in the late 1990's. The company ventured into zip press to close manufacturing due to a frustration in the lack of quality zip products in Europe. Originally, ELPLAST aimed for self-sufficient manufacturing, however major brands appreciated the high level of quality and service, enabling the business to branch out.

The company became a dedicated manufacturer and designer of EL-ZIP® brand zippers in early 2000. From humble beginnings, the range now includes over 250 different styles of press to close zippers, supplying over 600 million metres annually to customers in over 60 countries.

In 2016, ELPLAST opened two new world class facilities - a 9,000 square metres facility in Europe and a 2,700 square metres facility in the United States - to majorly increase EL-ZIP® production. Each facility has the capacity to produce two billion metres of product.

The recent expansion strengthens ELPLAST's position as Europe's leading press to close zipper manufacturer, especially in relation to unprecedented food hygiene, quality procedures and collaborative innovation.
