Why your body may be the hostile environment that's stopping you getting pregnant

It seems that more and more couples struggle with fertility these days and increasingly turn to IVF and other medical treatments to help them conceive before considering whether unhealthy diet and lifestyle choices may be the reason why they can't get pregnant.

Hannah Richards, of London's Move Three Sixty has recently been named by the Evening Standard as one of the top experts to see about fertility in London. Hannah is a functional diagnostic nutritionist and Metabolic Typing Advisor. She works with her partner Claud Serjeant, seeing clients who come to Move Three Sixty because they offer an alternative to medical intervention and they are getting great results.

Clients typically come to see Hannah and her partner Claud Serjeant at their private London gym and treatment rooms because they are frustrated and upset that they cannot get pregnant either naturally or after a number of failed rounds of IVF.

Hannah Richards, believes that lifestyle is the main factor contributing to a couple's failure to conceive. Hannah and Claud work with clients to restore balance and function in people whose bodies have often become toxic due to lifestyle issues or health issues and these are the factors that are stopping them becoming pregnant.

"When we think about fertility issues we usually associate it with the woman's failure to conceive, and of course, the majority of clients I see with fertility issues are women but increasingly I am working with men because for a wide range of non-medical reasons they cannot impregnate their partners".

"There are often a number of reasons why women can't get pregnant and the solution is not necessarily medical invention nor is it just the women's fault", says Claud. Stress, and an unhealthy lifestyle and the wrong food can often be contributing factors creating an hostile environment for both men and women, stress especially can play havoc with a man's hormonal balance and that can stop a woman from conceiving naturally.

Hannah and Claud work with their clients to create a welcoming environment by prescribing a nutritional programme to get the body into optimum health so that she will have a better chance of conceiving. "We work together with clients with both men and women to rebalance their sterodial Hormonal pathways, create a foundation of health through food and get him into tip top physical shape so he's as fertile as Superman and her body is as receptive and healthy as it can be".

The results and are impressive and it is no wonder that this dynamic team are much in demand and are helping couples work together to conceive.

About Metabolic Typing

Everyone has unique genetic requirements for types of foods and ratios of food consumed, please look at the website for more information and for further information about our clinical nutrition programmes.

In a nutshell, some people's bodies function more efficiently with an equal split between carbohydrates, fats and proteins and others need more protein and less carbohydrates or different combinations. What works nutritionally for one person has little or no affect on another or makes them worse, which is why all diets work for some people but not all people. Metabolic typing testing determines which of the six basic types you fall into. Sometimes you might need a combination of more than one type which is why it is important to see a professionally trained, experienced practitioner who can assess you correctly and then prescribe the right diet and complementary exercise programme to help get you into optimum health.
