Young People Encouraged To Take Environmental Action

No more excuses - the environment needs your help! It's never been easier to do something positive about the environment so what's your excuse? To mark this week's launch of the Environmental Protection Network, the network is running a competition to inspire young people to take action to help the environment.

"We want to hear from young people who have ideas for local, national and international environmental projects and campaigns that can help protect the environment," Chris Davis, founder of the Environmental Protection Network says. "We are trying to encourage young people to take action in the community, giving them a chance to gather support for the things they are passionate about and showing them they are able to make a difference. We are looking for new environmental ideas and suggestions spearheaded by young people."

Environmental Protection Network

The Environmental Protection Network has been set up to empower people to take action to protect the environment, green spaces and natural habitats. Anyone can sign up using email or a social media account to show support for people, campaigns and projects. Members can choose to receive green offers and deals from organisations supporting the new network.

All campaigns posted on the network will automatically be entered in the competition and receive some online promotion . The campaign which shows the most potential and ambition will receive a campaign promotion package worth £250.

"We want to show young people they can have influence if their ideas are sound. Anything is possible with the right support. All they need to do is post their creative ways to help protect the environment on the network," explains Chris.

The process is simple and free. Campaigners sign up to the network by email or social network account. If you don't have an email you can ask a parent to sign up for you. Once you are signed in you can create as many campaigns as you want. As soon as the campaign is published, you can begin promoting it. "Send a quick email to confirm your entry in the competition and we will give it a big marketing push to help your campaign get started," said Chris.

The winner of the launch competition will be decided by the network editors and announced on August 15 2013 after discussions with company executives from three large green organisations.

"Young people often feel detached from the community they live in. We hope this scheme will help them feel more involved in and responsible for their community and the environment they live in."

The network is designed to act as a hub for supporting new and existing environmental projects and campaigns. One way projects and campaigns receive support is by connecting the person with the idea to local businesses, professionals and interested individuals who have the means and experience to help activate their ideas. For organisations wanting to make a difference in their community and support young people in the process, network supporter and sponsorship opportunities are available.
