NEW DEAL FUELS LIFT SALES

A new set of heavy duty vehicle lifts from SOMERSTOTALKARE is playing a key role in helping to keep the country's airlines fuelled and ready for take-off.

Exxon Mobil, which supplies aviation fuel to airports across the UK, recently took delivery of a new set of 6 S6cf cable free vehicle as part of a deal with Halesowen-based SOMERSTOTALKARE.

The equipment has now been put into operation at Exxon Mobil's workshop near Luton Airport.

The facility is responsible for the maintenance of the company's nine-strong vehicle fleet that includes two recently purchased new €500,000 euro tankers.

Keith Rickard, workshop manager of Exxon, explained: The lifts give us maximum flexibility within our workshop space.

"This enables us to carry out all maintenance, repairs and inspections safely by giving us easy and full access to undersides of the vehicles."

When configured as a set of six, the lifts enable the vehicles and empty tankers to be lifted as one unit.

With a maximum load of 7.5 tonnes per column, the S6cf system is more than capable of all Exxon Mobil's lifting requirements. However, the system can be extended to include a set of 8 columns for larger applications if required.

Keith continued: "This is the first time we have used mobile column lifts and the S6 cable free lifts seemed the obvious choice. With no interconnecting cables between the lifts health and safety issues are reduced.

"The ease of use was also a major selling point, as was the after sales back up offered by SOMERSTOTALKARE."
