Hydrological Survey Equipment Experts Strengthen Data Centre Technical Team

Water industry instrumentation specialist, Detectronic, has reinforced its commitment to data analysis with the appointment of Mike Leafe as its data centre manager.  A chartered engineer and member of The Institution of Civil Engineers, Mike brings 30 years water industry experience to the new post.

Since qualifying in civil engineering at Loughborough University in 1976, Mike has worked with water companies, survey companies and civil engineering contractors on sewer surveys and flow monitoring exercises.  His experience includes Thames Tideway Tunnels CSO monitoring and key PFI projects in Scotland at Esk Valley and Leven Mouth.

Detectronic commercial director, Dave Walker commented, “With so many variables associated with sewer network monitoring, it is crucial that raw data is analysed coherently, with knowledge and experience, by people who understand sewer characterisation.  The purpose of the Detectronic data centre (DDC) is to share the skill set established in the company with both the local and international water industry, becoming a centre of excellence for gathering and disseminating data.  This creates increasingly sophisticated network management opportunities for our clients.”
