Back by popular demand... Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park to host second Scarecrow Festival

Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park in Bembridge is hoping to appeal to its guests’ artistic side over the August bank holiday weekend with its very own scarecrow competition.

In its second year, the event is
inspired by the annual Scarecrow Festival in the village of Flamstead in Hertfordshire which started back in 2000 and has become a hugely anticipated annual event, guests at Whitecliff Bay will be urged to create their own scarecrow, which will be entered into the competition over the August bank holiday weekend. Prizes will be awarded to the top three scarecrow creators, with judging taking place at 2pm on Sunday 25 August.

Away Resorts managing director Carl Castledine says: “Last year's inaugural Scarecrow Festival was such a success with our guests, we decided to do it again this year.

“We love having a bit of fun with our guests who are always up for a laugh. Scarecrows have really moved on from the days of Worzel Gummidge and Aunt Sally, as we have seen from other scarecrow festivals around the country, with entrants creating scarecrows in the shape of Rodney and Del Boy."

Prices lead in at £476 for a four-berth value chat from Friday August 23.

  • Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park has a comforting retro feel to it, with some quirky contemporary twists that really make it stand out from other holiday parks on the ever-popular Isle of Wight.
  • The jewel in this park's crown is its beautiful secluded sandy beach, which has gets the top rating from the Good Beach Guide.
