Childcare Vouchers ease the financial burden

It costs £148,000 to bring up a child in the UK according to a recent report*. With the new school year about to start, uniforms to buy and childcare to organise, it is no wonder parents struggle with their finances. Using Childcare Vouchers to help pay your childcare costs can ease the financial burden when children return to or start school.

If you are a working parent, you may find this time of year particularly difficult. Firstly you have to arrange childcare before and after school to fit in with your working day. Secondly, you have to find the funds to pay for this childcare. Childcare Vouchers can be used to pay for any registered childcare for children up to the age of 16. So, whether you have a child starting school for the first time or you require before and after school childcare, joining your employer's Childcare Voucher scheme can help you to save money.

What are Childcare Vouchers?

  • Available from your employer, you choose to deduct up to £243* per month (£55* per week) from your wages in return for the same amount of Childcare Vouchers.

  • By doing so, savings of up to £933* per year can be made.

  • Both parents can join their employers Childcare Voucher scheme, potentially doubling the savings.

  • Vouchers can be saved up throughout the year to be used at times when you require childcare such as the school holidays.

  • Childcare Vouchers can be used to pay for before and after school clubs, child minders, nannies, nurseries, pre-schools, play schemes, holiday clubs and many more.

The Government is launching a new Tax-free Childcare scheme in the autumn of 2015. Many working parents will not be able to make the same level of savings under this new scheme as they can through using Childcare Vouchers. The Childcare Voucher scheme will be closed to new entrants when the Tax-free Childcare scheme is implemented, only allowing those already using it to benefit from the savings it provides. As a result, there has never been a better time to start using Childcare Vouchers to make savings on your childcare costs. If you would like to take advantage of these valuable savings ask your employer about their Childcare Voucher scheme. If your employer doesn't have a scheme contact Busy Bees Benefits on 0330 333 9100 orparent@busybeesbenefits.comand they will speak to your employer to set one up.
