Logistics firms deliver at Race Around Ireland

DHL Express Ireland raced against time in a different way at Europe’s most challenging endurance event last weekend, with the support of fellow logistics firm BDA (Bespoke Distribution Aviation).

On Sunday 15th September, a team of cyclists, all volunteers from DHL Express, dubbed ‘DHL Speed of Yellow’  participated in ‘Race Around Ireland’ in aid of The Irish Cancer Society.

During the event the ‘DHL Speed of Yellow’ team sported the logo of BDA as one of their sponsors.  The DHL Express team took on this staggering 2,100 kilometres non-stop cycle challenge around Ireland and crossed the finish line at top speed, the same way it completes on-time delivery of goods for companies every single day.

DHL Express Ireland has worked with BDA for a number of years, and by sponsoring DHL Express in this arduous challenge, BDA took the opportunity to give some support back in the form of sponsorship to one of its key customers and help raise money for a cause very close to its heart.

The Race Around Ireland is a part of the Ultra Marathon Cycling Association’s World Cup series, which includes other high endurance races such as The Race Across America. DHL Express has entered a team of eight cyclists who will be assisted by a support crew, to not only attempt to complete the challenge of travelling non-stop, day and night, for 2,100km but also collect as much money as possible for this worthy cause.

This is not the only time that BDA has contributed support to its country of origin. BDA specialises in delivering time-critical-logistics throughout the UK and Ireland and serves mainland Europe through its key hub locations in Maastricht, Frankfurt, Coventry and Dublin. The company is well connected to Ireland and sponsored the Great British Ball Hockey team earlier this year in a sport that originated from traditional Irish hurling.  Sponsorship towards the Irish Cancer Charity of DHL Express not only enables BDA to support one of its key integrators but it also gives the company a chance to contribute towards a great cause in its homeland.

Steve Court, Sales Director at BDA said: “We were delighted to sponsor DHL Express and, in doing so, help to support a very worthwhile cause. DHL Express faced a massive task and its team made sure that they had their route well planned and the speed and determination required to reach the finish line, displaying many of the traits that make our every day working relationship so successful.”
