International recognition for Mutech as MD appointed to safety committee
mut018 / 18.09.13
Manchester-based Mutech Limited, a leading UK electronics design and manufacturing consultancy, has been recognised internationally for its expertise in intrinsic safety standards. Managing Director, Colin Cameron, has recently been appointed a UK expert on two committees of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), which develops international standards for electrical equipment used in hazardous areas such as mining, oil and gas. Nominated by BSI Colin Cameron is one of only six UK representatives.
The appointment not only underlines Mutech's excellent reputation in the field of electronics design and manufacturing, it also recognises Colin Cameron's skills and commitment to evolving and harmonising global standards.
Colin Cameron explains: "My task on the two IEC committees* is to be part of a team of experts who change and update standards, helping to keep products and people safe right across the globe."
Last year Colin Cameron was elected Chair of the UK L/6/10** Committee, the UK national forum for the IECEx*** scheme for the certification of equipment and people in hazardous areas. He also leads the UK delegation to the IECEx Management Committee. Member countries send delegations to the meetings to discuss and make decisions on the direction of the IECEx certification scheme.
MutechLtd designs, builds and tests internationally approved products for customers for use in hazardous areas and is involved in the design and production of electronic equipment for sensing, monitoring, control, communications and power supplies. Certification includes ATEX, IECEx, MSHA, CSA, MA, SANS and GOST.
The company embraces the wide spectrum of electronic product cycle from specification, circuit design, software development, through approvals and testing, to prototype and low to medium volume production.
