A bucking bronco, shooting stall games, a special Bake Off competition and driver challenges involving fork lift trucks were just some of the highlights of a Wild West themed family fun day in Cannock, which netted more than £600 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Briggs Equipment, one of the UK's leading materials handling services specialists, staged the event for staff and their families to celebrate parent company Sammons Enterprises Inc.'s 75thanniversary and welcomed 500 people to its headquarters in Orbital Way.

"Each year we organise events and activities to raise money for the company's nominated charity and in 2013 we are proud to be supporting Macmillan Cancer Support," says Briggs Equipment's Chief Executive Officer Richard Close.

"Our staff enjoyed an all action day out with their families and colleagues and collected £635, taking our fundraising total to date to £1342. At the end of the year we look forward to handing our friends at Macmillan a significant sum that will help to boost the practical, medical and financial support they give to people living with cancer and their families."

Briggs Equipment turned its car park into an amusement park, complete with dodgems, bucking bronco and shooting stall games, and laid on candy floss, toffee apples and ice cream. Materials handling equipment brands Yale and Hyster, for which Briggs Equipment is exclusive distributor, donated tombola prizes and music was by The Growlers, who played rock and roll classics from an unorthodox stage - a lorry from the company's fleet.

Children played on a bouncy castle and enjoyed the name the cow competition, temporary tattoos and face painting, while staff demonstrated their culinary expertise in the Briggs Equipment Bake Off. All produce was sold in aid of Macmillan following the prizegiving. In the day's driver challenges guests played skittles and basketball games with a difference, calling on all their skill and judgement as they took the wheel of a fork lift truck and tried to knock over the pins and shoot hoops.

"It was good to see Briggs Equipment's workforce enjoying quality time with their families, and we are hugely grateful for their generosity in supporting our work," says

Beverley Smith, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support in Staffordshire.
