Cold show proves a hot spot for business

The Temperature Controlled Storage & Distribution exhibition (TCS&D 2013) proved to be a great place to do business when it took place recently at the Peterborough Arena. Open on 18^thand 19^thSeptember, the show was a sell-out and featured a huge range of solutions designed to save costs in the chilled and frozen supply chain.

The UK's largest selection of refrigerated vehicles
On show at TCS&D 2013 was the largest collection of refrigerated vehicles under one roof in the UK, from small panel vans to rigids and trailers. Commented Rob Fisher, Exhibition Director, "With over 150,000 vehicles in the UK working exclusively in the cold chain sector, transport is a key part of the chilled and frozen supply chain. In addition to many other exhibits, the show provided visitors with a great opportunity to inspect and compare temperature-controlled vehicles and discuss their needs with manufacturers and conversion specialists."

A hot spot for business
The organisers were delighted that stand space at the show was sold out and that the event attracted just over 1,500 attendees. Explained Sales & Marketing Director, Martyn Cogan, "With the total cold supply chain sector estimated to be worth £206 billion by 2018, it's perhaps not surprising that demand for stands was so high. A total of 93 exhibitors took part, showcasing a huge range of products and services." As well as taking advantage of the informative programme of free seminars hosted by the Food Storage & Distribution Federation (FSDF) and the British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF), many visitors seemed ready to invest and exhibitors reported a healthy number of leads.Commented Bob Jane, Sales Manager (Dynamic Systems) for SSI Schaefer, "As we had hoped, a good cross-section of visitors were attracted to this event from a number of different industries and not just from the UK; there were a number of overseas visitors who we were able to meet on our stand. With such a positive outcome, I'm sure SSI Schaefer will continue to view this event as a key part of its marketing strategy for its increasing success in this sector." Jordi Amargos-Bosch, Area Manager (Northern Europe) for first-time exhibitor, Chereau, described the show as "very positive", while Simon Ragless, Special Projects Manager for Commercial Body Fittings, commented, "TCS&D proved to be perfect show to let the fleet operators know who we are and what we do." Garrey Ashton, Area Sales Manager for Marshall Fleet Solutions, summed up his company's experience: "Having been at a few different exhibitions now, I found the TCS&D show to have been the most fruitful for prospective business...the absolute quality and relevance to our business was superb."

Award winners celebrated
Some 400 guests enjoyed the inaugural black-tie TCS&D 2013 Awards Dinner, which took place at the end of the first day of the show. The event saw accolades bestowed on individuals, companies and solutions that have demonstrated best practice in temperature-controlled storage and distribution. The next event – TCS&D 2015 – will take place at the Peterborough Arena on 16^thand 17^thSeptember 2015.
