MCC President Gatting to "bowl-in"
week later...and says he'll talk
about his plans for China

New MCC President Mike Gatting, fresh from his announcement
that he wants China to
join the world of cricket, has put back
his visit to Wolverhampton because of other
commitments.

The opening of Wolverhampton's new indoor cricket practice
nets, by cricket legend Gatting,
will now be staged on Monday
October 28th - and  he says he'll be happy to talk about his
newly announced plans to take cricket into China during his
Presidency.

Cricketers and fans from all over the West Midlands are invited
to the free event and Gatting
says he'll be spending the evening
meeting and chatting to visitors, besides signing autographs
from 7.30.

"Everyone will want to know more about the plans for China.
This could be a world-changing
achievement for cricket and
encourage other countries to take up the sport," said arena owner
and former ECB indoor cricket member, Dharam Jagpal.

"The plan is that China should play Twenty20 and if Gatting
succeeds it could be a greater
achievement than his leading
of England to Ashes victory in 1986."

Wolverhampton Sports Arena is in Racecourse Road, near
Wolverhampton Racecourse and Dharam
said a number of
clubs have already signed up for the winter to use the practice
nets, with many new
clubs, including youngsters, joining the
new indoor leagues.
