Injured Players charity receives over £20k

Lymm Rugby Club's head of rugby, and formerEngland A and Saracens player, Alex Bennett, received a cheque for over £20k on behalf of the Injured Players Charity Restart.

Alex suffered a serious neck injury in 2012 while playing for Lymm RFC, but after an initial period of total paralysis, made a remarkable recovery, helped by support from Restart.

The money was raised by Kings School in Rochester, which has close connections with Lymm Rugby Club, and presented at a sporting gala dinner. On hand to receive the cheque were England rugby internationals DylanHartley, David Flatman andJames Haskell.

"The care and support I have received from medical professionals, friends and family since sustaining my injury has been nothing short of amazing, and the reaction of the rugby world in particular has been humbling," said Alex.

"I am determined to put something back into the game which I have loved for so long and which never fails to show its love for the wider rugby family. I am so grateful to everyone at King's for their efforts in supporting Restart,' concluded Alex.
