Start your own fitness network
The Fitness Support Network launched this month toenable people to request professional and peer support to help them achieve their personal fitness goals.
Having witnessed first-hand a number of friends and family setting out to get fit or lose weight, only to see their efforts fade after a few weeks, entrepreneur Chris Davis decided a more formal fitness support network was needed to help people stay on track.
Chris Davis, the network's founder, explains how the Fitness Support Network idea came about. "I love sport and fitness but my training goes in phases. A few times a year I decide I want to get fitter and usually stick at it for a few weeks, but then something always seems to happen that takes me off course. Last time it was a knee injury that stopped me running. Before that it was starting a new business project and not having enough time to get to the gym."
Having previously set up support networks for other important health issues Chris used his own network of fitness contacts to create a group of expert trainers and professional who were prepared to share their advice and expertise with members of the network.
"Generally people want to help others. It's a case of making that process simple," Chris explains. "Having the right person to turn to at the right time can make the difference between success and failure, especially when pursuing an ambitious fitness goal or overcoming a health challenge," explains Chris.

The online network helps people build their own personal fitness support network made up of venues, personal trainers, nutritionists and friends that they can turn to for help and motivation. Regular offers and fitness ideas help people with common fitness goals, and members connect based on their shared interests, experiences, needs and goals.
"We encourage members to make as many requests for help as they need. Each person knows what it is that gets in the way or holds them back. Once a request is made we work with them to find the best possible help and opportunities available from the support network," Chris says.
Since its launch, the network has attracted support from fitness professionals and organisations around the UK. "The initial support from experts has been great. Every day we have new experts and organisations signing up. VC-Fitness have sponsored the network. This has been a huge boost and has enabled us to get the network up and running," reveals Chris.
Alan O'Mahony is the independent lead sports and fitness expert for the network. "Alan offers a vast knowledge of performance sports, injury recovery, fitness training and nutrition. He is very inspiring and easy to talk to. Receiving support from experts like Alan can make the difference between fitness success and failure," says Chris.
Anyone cansign up to the fitness support network. Members receive fitness and exercise deals: including discounted gym membership, fitness equipment, personal training sessions, exercise clothing and free expert guides and "how to" videos.
