Briggs Equipment honoured as an ‘excellent' employer

Materials handling services specialist Briggs Equipment has been named one of the area's top employers after scooping the ‘Excellent to Work for Award' in this year's Cannock Chase Business Awards.

The company, which is headquartered in Orbital Way, Cannock, was also honoured for its efforts to give something back to the local community, finishing runner up in the ‘Excellence in Contributing to the Community' category.

Richard Close, chief executive officer at Briggs Equipment, said: "We employ a lot of people from the local community and I am delighted that our company has been recognised for its efforts and investment in our people by the Cannock Chase Business Awards."

Representatives from Briggs Equipment were presented with the accolades at a reception and networking event atThe Premier Suite, Cannock on Friday October 25.

The judges commended Briggs Equipment on being a values driven organisation which puts its people at the heart of its business operations and that by doing so, it has created ‘an outstanding workplace'. In particular, they congratulated the company on a series of reward schemes that recognise and celebrate employees' achievements and also on ‘Briggs Academy', a learning and development initiative which is driven by the needs of individuals and those of the business.

Briggs Equipment is passionate about contributing to the future growth and skills development of its employees, which helps deliver a more fulfilled and engaged workforce.

Briggs Equipment was also commended for its support for the Cannock Chase community. The judges were impressed that staff not only take a proactive, hands-on role in fundraising activities, but that they also assist charities, schools and community organisations by giving their time and expertise to support various projects.

The Cannock Chase Business Awards is a not for profit enterprise set up in 2012 to recognise the excellent work carried out by the area's outstanding businesses and are open to firms of any size and sector.
