Heat When You Need It

Hylec-APL has introduced its new comprehensive range of PTC heaters and Heaters with Fans for the industrial market. With five models in the PTC range, the heating capacity ranges from 30-150W, by use of a self-regulating PTC resistor.

PTCs are an extremely versatile source of electric heat. Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) heating elements are small ceramic stones with self-limiting temperature characteristics. The PTC stones have fast heating response times and plateau once the pre-defined reference temperature is reached. Above the reference temperature, the semiconducting and ferro-electrical properties of the ceramic are utilised to produce a rise in resistance of several orders of magnitude, and thereby create its self-limiting properties.

The dynamic resistance and output of PTC heaters makes them an excellent choice for providing controlled electrical heat. Simplification of design and reduced energy consumption represent significant cost savings for a given application. PTC heaters are also safe, as no matter how much current is applied, the PTC will never surpass its intended surface temperature.

Offering protection to IP20 (EN60529), with an operating temperature range of -45 to +70^oC, the PTC heaters from Hylec-APL also have a clip for mounting them onto DIN rail 35mm.

Hylec-APL also has a range of three heaters with fans which offer a heating capacity from 250 to 750W. These each contain an axial fan measuring 80 x 80 x 25mm and 35m³/h. With operating temperatures ranging from -25 to +70^oC, the heaters with fans provide IP20 protection (EN60529) and also have a clip for mounting on DIN rail 35mm.
