CUSTOMERS TRAVELLING FURTHER FOR "RIGHT CAR", SAY RAC BUYSURE

Used car package helping dealers extend pool of buyers

 

Customers are travelling further for the "right" used car, dealers operating under the RAC BuySure initiative are reporting.

 

The package of measures, designed to create a highly credible used car proposition, is encouraging customers to drive beyond usual used car catchment areas.

 

RAC Head of Dealer Propositions Mario Dolcezza said: "This is something that we are seeing widely reported. Customers who research online are willing to drive further for a used car sold under RAC BuySure because they believe in the credibility of the RAC brand and know that the vehicle will be in excellent condition. It will not be a wasted journey."

 

Richard Swaffield of Cavanfields Auto Centres based in Tidworth, Wiltshire, said that a number of customers have travelled considerable distances, such as from Devon and London.

 

He explained: "In our online adverts, we include images of the RAC BuySure document wallet and warranty booklet, together with the service history, and have had positive comments from customers who have travelled some distance to get to us.
 
"These customers trust the fact that the RAC are putting their name to the BuySure package and that the inclusive RAC Warranty can be used at any garage in the country rather than having to bring the car back to us. They will drive many miles for the right car."


Neil Durant of The Chelmsford Carriage Company added that the RAC branding allowed dealers to successfully project the standards to which they worked.

 

He said: "We prepare cars to a visual and mechanical standard which means they are almost like new. Being able to add the RAC brand and BuySure package underlines for customers the credibility of our proposition."

 

RAC BuySure dealers commit to an 82-point RAC Approved Preparation Standard on every vehicle, a minimum of three months' RAC Warranty cover, three months of complimentary RAC Roadside breakdown cover provided free of charge and enrolment to RAC Accident Management Service, supporting the motorist in the event of an accident.
