PRESS RELEASE
Release date: 19th November 2013
New
K3 division will deploy public sector cloud all over the globe
A
new IT consultancy division has been set up in the UK by the established K3
Business Technology Group, to deploy secure public sector cloud services all
over the world with access to over 300 international datacentres.
K3
Hosting has been launched in response to overwhelming demand throughout the UK
and overseas for cloud-based IT services from organisations in the public
sector. The company builds on the strong foundations laid down by the previous
K3 Managed Services division, with products and services being expanded and
further developed to provide a wide range of cloud and managed service support.
K3 Business Technology Group is already working in some NHS departments and
expects to make further moves into the public sector with the launch of this new
division.
K3
Hosting has been set up to help solve some of the most specific IT management
challenges facing public sector organisations today: the need for more secure
IT backup, greater transparency and tracking of critical systems, and improved
public service delivery.
The
public sector has experienced a number of large scale data breaches in recent
months. Aberdeen City Council was fined £100,000 by the Information
Commissioner’s Office in September for data breaches, while the health
authority was penalised by data regulators to the sum of £200,000 for releasing
private records of patients to the general public. The biggest public sector
breach was that of NHS Surrey which had vital data accessed when it was left on
a discarded hard drive.
K3
Hosting offers a solution to these problems through its unique Infrastructure
as a Service (IaaS) provision, which takes away the challenges of constantly
having to invest in, maintain, and manage datacentre infrastructures for public
sector organisations. K3 Hosting’s IaaS offering is a hosted Enterprise Class
Cloud Service built on the latest technology to allow options for dedicated or
shared IT infrastructure resources, allowing organisations to shift their IT
focus and receive dynamic, hassle-free and dynamic IT provision, integrating
systems from end to end and with secure data storage offsite.
IaaS
is just one unique service from the new company, which also provides the more
traditional Software as a Service (SaaS), Hardware as a Service (HaaS) and
Network as a Service (NaaS) infrastructure services, often integrating
provision with Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) and Project Management
facilities. The result is a complete one-stop-shop for IT infrastructure support, maintenance,
and protection.
The internet has developed from a communication network
to what has been termed the ‘internet of things’, where the internet connects
traffic management systems, buildings, bank cash-machines, and much more. As
the UK moves to ‘digital-by-default’ for convenience and to reduce costs,
public sector organisations need to recognise their own vulnerability to data
breaches and poor information management and identify solutions to this growing
concern.
K3
Hosting is backed by the support of the wider K3 Business Technology Group, a
company ranked number 30 in the top 100 Value Added Reseller list and well
established within the IT market. Neil Farnworth, Managing Director of K3
Hosting, brings 20 years of experience working in the technology industry to
the company and has experienced for himself how the popularity of cloud
infrastructures has grown globally over the past few years among the public
sector and the vital role it will play in years to come. He is joined by
Director, Ed Renwick, a datacentre, cloud and managed services expert, and a
team of 70 staff working in roles ranging from engineering through to sales,
support and project management.
Neil
Farnworth said: “Data breach is a real issue for public sector organisations
and they need to make sure that the critical information they hold never falls
into the wrong hands. Our team has worked in the public sector for many years
and understands the challenges that organisations face daily, and the new
challenges that are on the horizon. We use this experience to develop our own
IT consultancy solutions that take care of managing IT infrastructures, protecting
data and backing up important information.”
