Charlton and Jenrick launches the next generation of gas fires

Paragon's new super-versatile P series gas fire portfolio, by Charlton & Jenrick, is expected to stimulate the replacement gas fire market by offering something different to the standard 16" inset.
The new P4 is a modern 500mm wide fire that can be installed in the home in three different ways for optimum flexibility and choice.
The large 22" glass fronted P4 fits most back panels and surrounds making it ideal for fireplace suite packages; it offers a substantial upgrade from a standard 16"/18" glass fronted fire for very little cost difference. This model redefines the rules of which fires can be used in a fireplace suite.
The P4, when used in a suite, is free of an external trim frame and, as a result, can enhance and complement a multitude of traditional or modern fireplace designs. Having a trim-free, ‘neutral' appearance means that the fireplace designer can completely take over and present a package with their own creativity taking centre stage rather than being stuck with a standard fascia. Sized to fit fireplace openings of a minimum of 500mm wide and 555mm high, the P4 is a good size for smaller chimney breasts or average-sized fireplace suites.
As well as being used as a trimless fireplace suite, using the fireplace frame kit means that the P4 can also be fitted "frameless" into a wall for the modern, minimalistic look. There is also an optional slip kit available so that the fire can be fitted in the wall with the edge being finished with marble or stone slips.
The third installation option for this range is again in the wall yet with a trim, in either brushed stainless steel or graphite, around the fire to give a traditional hole-in-the-wall look.
The firebox comes complete with matt black liners and offers a realistic flame effect especially considering consumption has been maintained at 5.5kW to offer economical running costs. Independently verified high efficiency of 82% to BS7977 ensures up to 4.05kW output is available to provide substantial heating capacity when required.
Built-in fires can sometimes be tricky to install with high temperature studding, boards and plaster required surrounding the top of the firebox. However, the structure of the P4 fireplace frame is designed to minimise the heat transferred to the wall so that, if required, 2" standard timber studding can be used, as specified in the instructions, together with standard plasterboard and plaster.
The simple ‘slip kit' is also suitable to assist rebating into a wall without any studding. Along with the other conventionally-flued Paragon products, the P4 does not require any liners, debris, adaptor kits or expensive balanced flue systems. Battery access is easily achieved from the front without tools and the glass panel, log set and other components are simply removed from the opening in minutes.
