Abacus Direct creates warmth and richness in Brewery Square

A vibrant new quarter in the heart of Dorchester in Dorset, Brewery Square is an eclectic mix of listed and new buildings that occupies a site of nearly 12 acres. The development embraces shops, restaurants, hotels, a spa, theatre and cinema along with garden squares and courtyards. Around these are apartments and penthouses with interiors by Conran and Partners that include a wide variety of products manufactured by Abacus Direct Ltd.

Each apartment is given a warmth and richness by using a range of high quality natural materials. Abacus was first approached some five years ago to help achieve the designer finish by incorporating some of its products into the development including UK-manufactured cabinets and furniture, specialist tiling and designer sanitaryware. Abacus has already been involved by assisting with the design layouts with the 74, one-, two- and three- bedroom apartments and penthouses completed in the first two phases of the development, and is soon to begin supplying the next phase of 135 apartments through its merchant network.

Abacus works closely with the developer in achieving the final specification which is then supplied through their merchant partners through the UK market. The full range of products in the package designed by Abacus is extensive. The list includes travertine stone floor and wall tiling; sanitaryware by Ben de Lisi - including all the baths, shower trays, WCs, basins and shower screens - brassware; bespoke walnut veneered bathroom cabinets with mirrored doors and built in lighting systems. While the standard specification for all wood finishes is walnut veneer, buyers can choose from a variety of other veneer options that Abacus works with Brewery Square to provide.

Abacus Specification Centre is based in Harrogate and is a free resource that is available for the merchant partners to assist them when dealing with developers, architects and clients. The training centre offers merchant partners the perfect place to bring their installers for up-to-date product training.
