Second Truss Table press will ‘more than double' production at New World Timber Frame
 

Wolf Systems' customer, New World Timber Frame, has installed a second Wolf truss manufacturing line at its Saffron Walden factory. 

The new £30,000 line joins an existing truss table installed in 2011 when New World first ventured into truss manufacture. 

"Moving into trusses was a natural progression for us" explains New World Timber Frame's business development manager, Jason Aldous. 

"It is complementary technology and it allows us to make the whole system under one roof" adds Jason. "It also gives us a second string to our bow because we can sell trusses to the masonry market as well". 

Since commissioning its first truss table, New World's truss production has increased every month. "The combination of a strong order book and a growing volume of orders means that we need to increase capacity now" says Jason. 

The new line, which pressed its first truss in December 2012, is expected to more than double New World's truss capacity. "This new table press has a computerised ‘teach and go' capability which stores pressing patterns from the first truss in a batch and then allows the rest of the batch to be pressed automatically," says Jason.

Multiple truss patterns can be programmed into the machine so that several types can be pressed automatically, significantly increasing the rate of production. 

While workloads in the building industry remain generally low, New World has actively pursued new opportunities and is steadily increasing its share of the market, explains Jason. 

Whilst full truss capacity will be achieved in the spring, the new line currently allows NWTF more flexibility in production, to meet the demands of their customers. 

With a choice of four UK suppliers, New World chose Wolf largely for the quality of its products and service. "Wolf gives us great service and good software too" explains Jason. 

Besides the truss-design software that accompanies the truss tables, New World also uses Wolf management suites elsewhere in the business.
