GB Building Solutions secures key role in London's major regeneration projects

GB BUILDING SOLUTIONS SECURES KEY ROLE IN LONDON'S MAJOR REGENERATION PROJECTS

Impressive green credentials and a track record of delivering world-class projects have helped GB Building Solutions secure contracts worth over £50m at two of London's most exciting regeneration schemes on Greenwich Peninsula for Knight Dragon and in Mill Hill for Countryside Annington (Mill Hill) Ltd.

The award-winning construction company is on site for Hong Kong developer Knight Dragon at its landmark Greenwich Peninsula scheme, where the master plan includes 10,000 new homes near the Millennium Dome, as well as shops, offices and schools.

GB Building Solutions will deliver a nine-storey apartment building comprising 161 units of private, shared ownership and social housing. The development has been designed to reduce energy demand. The thermal performance of the building envelope has been maximised with a strong focus placed on the optimisation of the glazed façade, use of balconies as shading and improving the thermal performance of the building fabric exposed to the outside elements. The building is due for completion in early 2015.

Further north, GB Building Solutions has been awarded a multi-million pound contract at Millbrook Park by Countryside Annington (Mill Hill) Ltd, a joint venture between developer Countryside Properties and Annington Developments. The Millbrook Park development has secured planning for 2,174 new homes, ancillary retail, light industrial and office space, an energy centre and a new two-form primary school and health centre as well as almost six hectares of parks and open space.

GB Building Solutions' contract comprises 133 units including 31 one bedroom and 61 two bedroom apartments, 14 three bedroom and 27 four bedroom houses including access roads, car parks and landscaping. Twelve of the units will be affordable properties available through Notting Hill Housing Trust. Work is due for completion in July 2015.

Executive chairman of GB Group, Martin Smout said: "We are delighted to be able to bring our experience and knowledge of cutting edge environmental techniques to these major projects in the capital, where the challenges facing urban regeneration are particularly acute.

"This experience will be used to construct the homes at both the Greenwich Peninsula scheme and Millbrook Park to the very highest standards."

All 294 of the homes at both developments are designed to achieve Level Four of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

GB Building Solutions is planning site visits to its Greenwich Peninsula development in March, when many professionals will be in the capital to visit EcoBuild 2014 at London's ExCeL. Please contact Ian Kilvington ikilvington@gbgroup.co.uk to register interest in attending.

"We think it's important to share our experiences and examples of best practice and to help develop the innovative thinking that will ultimately deliver a sustainable and prosperous future for the UK's built environment," added Martin Smout.
