EAMA predicts growth in industry for 2014 - Hardy Services responds
2014 could be the best year since 2008 for mechanical engineering companies
Hardy Services, a company specialising in utilities, mechanical and electrical solutions, has commented on predictions, made by the Engineering and Machinery Alliance (EAMA), that 2014 could be the strongest year since 2008 for mechanical engineering firms and companies offering mechanical engineering services.
The prediction by EAMA has been made after a healthy 2013 in which 19% of companies in the UK reported that each month there were more jobs on offer. 2013 also saw order numbers in the industry rise, suggesting a possibility of further growth this year.
EAMA chairman, Martin Walder, said that a rise in enquiries towards the end of 2013 hinted at 2014 being a strong year for those in the mechanical engineering field.
"Enquiry levels held up well towards the end of the year with the November gainers' return accurately reflecting the monthly average for the year (38% for UK and 28% for export enquiries) and sector confidence levels are very positive.
"Of course a good set of figures for past performance is no guarantee of future output. And while the enquiry and job numbers look good, the order and investment returns over the year may not be quite so impressive, but they are so much better than 2012's."
Hardy Services, a Lancashire-based company with a focus on all things utility, electrical and mechanical related, regularly reacts to relevant industry news and views. A spokesperson for the company, which also offers mechanical engineering solutions, says that they agree with the EAMAs assessment.
"Based on the surge in demand for mechanical engineering services, particularly towards the tail-end of 2013, we can only agree with the prediction made by the Engineering and Machinery Alliance.
"With the economy improving, mechanical engineering companies and services are certainly in high demand at the moment, and at Hardy Services we've had both an increase in clients and an increase in enquiries for our highly skilled mechanical engineering services."
