UK Carline comments on Toyota being named the world's biggest car manufacturer

Toyota has retained its position as the biggest car manufacturer in the world

Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has held onto its title as the world's largest vehicle manufacturer, outselling all other car companies with a total of 9.98 million sales recorded for 2013.

In 2013 Toyota recorded sales 2% up on its previous year and outsold US manufacturer General Motors by 270,000 units. Toyota stated that they were aiming to sell 10.32 million of their vehicles this year.

The impressive figures posted by Toyota come only 3 years after a series of tsunamis and earthquakes caused widespread destruction in Japan, affecting several noted car manufacturers, including Toyota.

According to Professor David Bailey, a car industry expert from Aston Business School, Birmingham, Toyota has benefited from cheaper exports as a result of the ‘depreciation of the yen' and an attitude of embracing new technologies.

"The firm has weathered the storm over recalls and the earthquake and the tsunami disruptions well. It has gone back to its core strategy of focusing on quality. The firm has also made the right bets on technology, in terms of developing hybrid technologies.

"These will be the key technologies over the next few years and Toyota has led the way with them."

Toyota had previously been the world's top car seller from 2008-2011 but lost the number one spot after the 2011 tsunami, falling behind both GM and Volkswagen.

UK Carline, a market leading car leasing company that has supplied over 25,000 vehicles, often reacts to car news and research. A representative for the company reported that their own Toyota sales have risen in the past 2 years.

"We can't say we're surprised to learn that Toyota has sold the most vehicles for the second year running. Toyota has certainly re-emerged in the past couple of years as the force to be reckoned with when it comes to international sales.

"In recent years we've increased the number of Toyota vehicles on offer and we've also seen higher demand from the British public for them, which correlate quite neatly with their growing sales figures."

UK Carline has thousands of affordable car leasing options on their website and just as many customers each year.

"As one of the largest car leasing companies in the UK we're able to provide great insight into the vehicle industry because we work closely with manufacturers and customers alike.

"We have the very best deals available on thousands of vehicles, whether it's a Toyota or a BMW you're looking for."
