BEN boosted by big recycling donation

PRESS RELEASE

Release date: 14thFebruary 2014

BEN boosted by big recycling donation

Leading automotive charity BEN has been boosted by a donation of £3,500 which has been raised by people selling their old cars for scrap.

Vehicle removal specialist Remove My Car donated £1 for every single End of Life vehicle(ELV) that it bought from consumers, motor traders and garages for scrap during the month of January, raising a total of £3,507 for BEN. The funds will go towards providing practical, emotional and financial support for those who work, or have worked, in the automotive and related industries, as well as their dependants.

The charity initiative has helped consumers and traders to quickly dispose of their old cars, which may have failed an MOT, or become too costly to repair, in a safe, environmentally friendly manner, while raising money for a good cause at the same time. BEN has been providing vital support for those connected to the automotive industry for over 100 years both through its community welfare services and its network of care centres in Berkshire, Merseyside, Northumberland and Warwickshire.

Remove My Car provides instant online quotes for scrap vehicles on its website and responds to hundreds of enquiries every day from motorists, motor traders and garages looking to sell end-of-life vehicles for scrap. There is no limit to the number of cars that the company can dispose of and because it provides quotes on the weight, rather than the size of an end-of-life vehicle, sellers receive an accurate quotation.

Remove My Car is currently outperforming its online quotation system and Managing Director Steve Queen wanted to recognise and support the great work that BEN does, not just in the recycling industry but throughout the entire automotive sector. He explained: "We wanted to do something worthwhile to support BEN and demonstrate the effectiveness of our online quotation system at the same time, so donating a pound per car from the sum we pay for every ELV was an effective fundraising plan.

"A high percentage of people working in the motor trade are aware of BEN and the great work they do and many have experienced this first hand so we are always keen to do whatever we can to help support the charity. January is often a busy month for us and that is why we wanted to run the fundraising initiative in January, to ensure we raised substantial funds for BEN."

Nigel Williams, Commercial Development Manager at BEN said: "We are delighted with the money raised by Remove My Car, which will really help us to continue to make a difference to so many people working in the automotive industry. We rely on donations and the generosity of others so this fundraising initiative will really help us to provide support to those in the industry who need it."

Remove My Car will continue to raise funds for BEN through its unique Give A Scrap initiative which starts on March 1. The campaign will encourage consumers and traders to donate an end-of-life vehicle to BEN.
