STARS OVER BROADWAY THIS SPRING
Brit Actor Alan Cumming Joins Host Of Stars
Opening In New Broadway Shows In March
A celebrity line up of actors and actresses will be playing in new productions on Broadway this Spring, including Britain's Emmy nominee Alan Cumming in the latest revival of Cabaret.
Alan will be reprising his role as the Emcee in Cabaret's third Broadway revival and will be joined by Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams, co-staring as Sally Bowles. Scottish-born Alan is well known for his Hamlet, and for his role on the American TV series The Good Wife. Cabaret begins previews on 21 March and opens on 24 April at Studio 54.
He said: "I first played the Emcee in London 20 years ago, and then again five years later on Broadway. I was in a totally different place in my life on both those occasions, and I am certainly a different man today. But one thing hasn't changed: There are still people in this world who want to oppress and destroy us for being different, and Cabaret is both a celebration of diversity and a reminder of the dangers of complacency. It couldn't be more relevant and I couldn't be more excited to be a part of it."
After Midnight, the review based on the music of Harlem's jazz age is currently running at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, and will feature a number of celebrity appearances in March, starting with Grammy award winning Canadian singer K D Lang until 9 March, followed by Toni Braxton and R&B artist Babyface, who will be appearing together from 18-30 March.
Woody Allen's movie turned musical Bullets Over Broadway will star Emmy Award nominee Zach Braff, best known for his role in the sitcom Scrubs and film Garden State. Bullets Over Broadway begins previews on 11 March and opens 10 April at the St James Theatre.
Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella which will run until 27 April at The Broadway Theatre is staring Canadian pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen, famous for her hit song ‘Call Me Maybe'. The classic tale has been adapted for Broadway with a modern romantic twist.
These musicals, and many more, are all part of The Broadway Collection, a group of New York's most highly regarded shows, selected for their popularity with international audiences and put together by Broadway Inbound. See below for details of how to book tickets in the UK.
