Energy bills and
carbon emissions high on agenda for manufacturers, survey finds
Survey show more
executives are looking for ways to cut costs and carbon emissions
Shrink wrapping machine company UWrap has responded to a survey released this week showing that more British manufacturers are looking for ways to slash their energy bills and limit their carbon footprint.
The report, carried out by energy company nPower and manufacturing organisation EEF, shows that more businesses than ever before are getting proactive about their energy needs. In particular, it was found that managing directors and chief executives account for a third of people who make decisions on energy efficiency.
On top of that, close to two thirds of companies in the manufacturing sector reported that limiting their carbon footprint was one of their reasons for looking at energy efficient plans. Whereas a staggering 96% of companies surveyed said that they turned to energy management as a means of reducing their energy bills.
EEF North West director, Darrell Matthews, said, “Managing higher energy costs whilst maintaining international competitiveness is one of the biggest challenges facing manufacturers today.
“The most advanced companies are systematically addressing inefficiencies in their buildings and processes to try and mitigate rising costs that come straight off the bottom line. This must remain a focus for all manufacturers. The prize of getting it right for companies is significant.
“This is not simply because of the direct benefit of reducing costs and improving our competitiveness, but because manufactures will develop the technologies and services which will help other parts of the economy improve their efficiency.”
nPower director of industrial and commercial sales and marketing, Wayne Mitchell, said: “Good energy management happens in the boardroom, and with the cost of energy continuing to rise, making strategic decisions with a trusted energy expert can help a business stay competitive.”
UWrap, a shrink wrap machine manufacturer supplier who regularly responds to shrink wrap and manufacturing news, says that the manufacturing industry embracing green targets is great news:
“It’s fantastic news for Britain that so many companies in the manufacturing industry are actively working to reduce their carbon footprint. But perhaps the best finding in this study is that so many of those who are actively limiting carbon emissions are also interested in lowering their energy bills, because it shows that you can be green and save money at the same time.”
UWrap is one of the largest providers of shrink wrapping machines and shrink wrapping machine services in the UK.
“As one of the UK’s biggest shrink wrapping machine companies, offering machines for sale and hire, we’re also committed to reducing our own carbon emissions and making the country a better, safer place for everybody.”
