Local author flies into Kenilworth for World Book Day
On the 6thof March, local children's author Graham Jones will be visiting independent book store, Kenilworth Books in honour of World Book Day - and he's bringing a very special guest.
Graham, a Birmingham based businessman, decided to write children's books in order to educate kids about British history whilst keeping them entertained and interested. His first book, Time Travelling Toby and the Battle of Britain, follows Toby and his brothers as they travel back in time to help win the famous battle of the skies.
"As a boy, I always loved history and I wanted to pass that passion on in a way that would be appealing to kids," says Graham. " The Toby books are about making important moments in British history exciting and accessible to younger children."
Joining Graham on World Book Day will be ex-RAF serviceman and WW2 veteran Tim Wellings, who is eager to pass on his experiences and stories to the next generation.
"When I heard about Graham's book I was extremely impressed," says Tim. "It's great to see history being shared with the next generation - I'm looking forward to visiting Kenilworth Books and answering the children's questions about the RAF in WWII."
Proprietor of Kenilworth Books, Frances Smith says she is very excited to celebrate World Book Day by hosting the book signing.
"I have always been a huge fan of World Book Day, it's a great way to get kids reading," says Frances. "When I saw the Time Travelling Toby book, I knew it was the perfect fit being both educational and a really fun read," she says. "I immediately wanted to stock the series, and am delighted to be hosting Graham and Mr Wellings on such an important day in the literary calendar!"
The book signing will take place after school between 3 and 4.30 on Thursday March 6that Kenilworth Books, located in Talisman Square. Children will be able to speak to Graham about the Toby books and ask Mr Wellings questions about life as a serviceman in WW2.
