Dr Hilary Jones takes a seat with specialist furniture manufacturer

A Midlands-based specialist seating manufacturer is celebrating its 15 year anniversary with the appointment of a new expert advisor, in the form of TV personality Dr Hilary Jones.

Repose Specialist Seating Solutions has signed a 12-month contract with the famous television doctor who is widely known as Dr Hilary. The partnership he has formed with Repose was kicked off last week when he visited the company’s factory in Cradley Heath to formally sign his contract, before taking a tour of the firm’s new factory.

The 12-month appointment of Dr Hilary will see him lead several key campaigns placing healthcare and seating issues high on the agenda of providers in the healthcare sector, care homes and to individual consumers. As part of Dr Hilary’s recent visit to Cradley Heath, Repose also hosted a lunch on the day of the event which was attended by the Mayor of Sandwell, along with other key members of the local council.

Dr Hilary addressed the attendees of the lunch, which also included a number of Repose’s, distributors and customers, to outline his plans and campaigns for the upcoming year which will address a number of issues focusing primarily on healthcare needs relating to mobility, disability, palliative care, and comfort. 

With UK economic recovery predicted to go from strength to strength throughout 2014, recent reports have named the manufacturing sector as  leaders of this growth; a sentiment echoed by Repose, which has enjoyed a 50% sales increase over the last two years.

Dr Hilary said of his partnership with Repose “What attracted me to Repose was the diverse range of specialist seating which spans both the home market and health sector. We all understand the benefits associated with physiotherapy when rehabilitating a patient, but the reality is that often people only receive a small number of short sessions as part of their remedial care. Instead we sometimes overlook the basics. If a person is no longer mobile, they can spend up to 50 hours or more a week in a chair. It is therefore vital that the seating solution is comfortable, functional and designed to the individual’s needs. This is something that is at the very heart of every Repose chair.”

Over the next 12 months Dr Hilary will be involved in a number of campaigns headed up by Repose. He will endorse a range of Repose products, including a number that will be unveiled at NAIDEX 2014, the largest independent living exhibition in the UK, held at Birmingham NEC. Dr Hilary will also provide a range of literature which will be distributed with Repose products to healthcare professionals, including ‘How To’ guides on topics such as posture and stature.

Since Repose started manufacturing and distributing its seating solutions in 1999, the company has established itself as an industry leader within the bespoke furniture sector. The company is now headed up by managing director Lisa Wardley, daughter of Repose’s founder John Elcocks. Lisa and her team has taken the company from strength to strength, most recently with the relocation of the company to a bigger, new factory and head offices in Cradley Heath.

Of Repose’s recent 15 year anniversary Lisa said “Repose has enjoyed massive success over recent years, and our 15 year anniversary is a great time to celebrate this.
