number of companies out there who are still sceptical about digital marketing.
According to a report by Forrester Research, one of the
world’s largest IT research and analysis companies, there are many firms out
there who are yet to see the benefits of online marketing, remaining sceptical
about search engine optimisation (SEO) and other internet marketing companies.
Many businesses that have an online strategy in place are unconvinced that it’s
benefiting their business, even though the majority who were quizzed reported
that they believe SEO and other methods are crucial for achieving success.
The study, which also showed that 90% of respondents
expected their business to be disrupted by online strategies within 12 months,
was recently published by the Institute of Direct Marketing. Additionally, only
1 in 3 surveyed trusted their online advertising campaign and was satisfied
with their plans.
The vast majority of respondents believed that their
business doesn’t have the necessary skills or staff to put in place a
successful advertising campaign.
The authors of the report, Martin Gill and Nigel Fenwick,
stated that:
“The organisational structures, processes and ways of
working that have proven so successful in the past are now your firm’s greatest
enemies in its race to embrace digital technology.”
The report also suggests that IT and ecommerce companies,
and organisations that deal with sales, are most likely to be impacted by and
involved in online strategies.
