Med-Tech Innovations EXPO 2014 - Confirms Department of Business, Innovation and Skills Speaker to round up Conference

* The UK Strategy for Life Science and the Wider Government Support for Med-Tech *

19^thMarch 2014, Med-Tech Innovations Expo 2014 has announced that Mr Peter Whittington, Assistant Director,Department of Business, Innovation and Skills(BIS), will present a paper on ‘The Strategy for UK Life Sciences and the wider Government ‘offer' for Medical Technology, providing an overview of the strategy for UK Life Sciences, current areas of work and progress and the support offer available for Med-Tech firms operating in the UK. Mr Whittington's presentation is at 3:00pm on 3^rdApril 2014.

Mr. Whittington oversees the Office for Life Sciences with responsibility for the UK's Medical Technology sector. Within this remit is the supply-chain's competitiveness and he advises on availability and access to development finance to ensure the sector's interests are taken into account in the development of relevant UK and EU policy, innovation and investment support and regulation.

Key areas of current work include; working with the sector's Trade Associations and innovation support system to help foster growth in the sector.

Starting at 10:00am on both days of the exhibition the conference programme begins with a keynote call to arms ‘Made in the UK'for the UK's Med-Tech manufacturers, as an evolving contributor to increased job opportunities and economic growth.

With breakout sessions and conference streams incorporating ‘Designing in Innovations, Creating a Competitive Supply Chain, and Skills for Industry' the papers will include ‘Underpinning Manufacturability, and Designing for Competitive Advantage'. Further keynotes on ‘The Med-Tech Supply Chain' demonstrate the exhibition and conference's relevance to all companies involved in the medical technology industry.
