Dominos Pizza, one of the world’s largest pizza companies,
recently announced that a staggering 70% of delivered sales in the United
Kingdom are now made on the internet.
The company, which has over 10,000 company-owned and
franchised stores worldwide – including close to a thousand in the UK alone –
revealed a 14.8% increase in system sales, resulting in £188.5 million for Q1
this year.
The global pizza giant also reported that online purchases
accounted for 69.4% of all UK deliveries, up 25% to £103 million.
Figures for mobile orders also fared well, with 34% of
online orders being made through mobile devices.
“We are pleased with the like-for-like performance in our
core UK and Republic of Ireland business. We remain confident in delivering our
target of 40-50 new stores in 2014. Although it is still early the plans we
have in place are strong and I look forward with optimism,” explained Stephen
Hemsley, Chairman of Dominos.
