Council takes delivery of new lifts

A vehicle workshop in Scotland has taken delivery of new heavy duty vehicle lifts as part of a council's efforts to upgrade its facilities.

West Dunbartonshire Council currently maintains over 350 vehicles, ranging from small vans through to 26 tonne four-axle waste and recycling trucks, and the work is being carried out across two workshops.

Ahead of plans to bring the two facilities under one roof, the council has purchased a set of 6 S6ng heavy duty mobile column lifts from SOMERSTOTALKARE.

John Blake, Fleet and Maintenance Co-ordinator across the two workshops, explained: "The mobile column lifts give the workshop extra flexibility and allow us to have a multipurpose work bay in the workshop.

The main reason for choosing this particular set of lifts was down to SOMERSTOTALKARE's reputation for quality and reliability plus my own personal experience of the company's column lifts."

Alex Hardie, the council's relief team leader added: "The fact we can configure the lifts as a set of four or six allows us the flexibility to lift all the vehicles in our extensive fleet

As part of plans for future expansion the council is also looking to upgrade their existing lifts with SOMERSTOTALKARE's cable free lifts, reducing the risk of slips and falls in the workshop.

The council has also signed up to a comprehensive service package from SOMERSTOTALKARE, enabling the council to maintain its high standards of performance, whilst meeting health and safety requirements with regards to Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).
