Coffee specialist now distributes Nuova Simonelli and Victoria Arduino
brands
Nuova Simonelli and Victoria Arduino make some of the very
best top-end espresso machines in the world.
Both are Italian manufacturers, both have histories stretching back to
the early Twentieth Century, both are part of the Simonelli Group and, now,
both are distributed in the UK by coffee specialist Barista Tech.
The two manufacturers are known for creating machines that
combine striking aesthetics with practical functionality – great looks and
great coffee. One key difference is that
the Nuova Simonelli range offers a choice of budget models as well as luxury
machines. Barista Tech will be offering
a wide choice of models from both brands.
One of the Nuova Simonelli espresso machine ranges likely to
create a buzz is the Appia Life, which was developed with sustainability at its
heart. LCA (Lifetime Cycle Assessment)
tests found it offers a reduction in environmental impact (in terms of CO2
emissions) of 20% compared to previous models.
This is thanks to an upgraded thermal system, new materials used and
optimisation of components. The new
boiler design cuts energy consumption by 13% while the Appia Life’s special
frothing technology minimises milk waste.
Appia Life is listed on the Ongreening platform (ongreening.com), an
independent materials database designed to allow professionals to identify
sustainable equipment.
Similarly, Victoria Arduino’s Eagle One uses new technology
to reduce its environmental impact. Its
TERS (Temporary Energy Recovery System) uses discharged water to pre-heat the
incoming supply, cutting power use by 8%.
The Eagle One’s LCA showed that it had 23% less environmental impact
than a standard model.
“Sustainability is right at the top of the foodservice
agenda and both these brands are developing new ideas to tackle the issue,”
