Healthy outlook for PEC as it retains NHS maintenance contracts in Bradford

HEALTHY OUTLOOK FOR PEC AS IT RETAINS NHS MAINTENANCE CONTRACTS IN BRADFORD

After a competitive tender, Bradford's PEC has retained its maintenance support contract for mechanical and plumbing work at Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI). The retained contract has been extended to include electrical work, and PEC now has a six-strong on-site team carrying out important repair and maintenance work at the hospital.

Additionally, PEC provides a broad maintenance service at St Luke's Hospital, which is increased with further tradesmen from the main PEC workforce when required for high priority projects. Work ranges from joinery to plumbing/mechanical, and electrical, as well as monitoring and maintenance of the hospital's hydrotherapy pool facility.

Widely known for its contracting, manufacturing and shopfitting portfolio of private sector clients, PEC also works extensively in the healthcare sector on both fit-out and maintenance contracts for clients including Bupa, the NHS and One Medical.

PEC finance director Steve Fowler, said: "These are difficult times for everyone, with many estates departments being tasked with doing more with less resource. Our people have good experience of the unique demands of working in healthcare environments, and have worked hard to become trusted members of the estates support services teams in both Bradford locations.

"Retaining and extending this contract is recognition of the valued service we bring to the table, and a clear indication that outsourcing core maintenance support work can contribute to the efficiency and flexibility initiatives being implemented by many public sector estates managers. We are looking forward to further developing our excellent relationships with the maintenance and medical teams, and to helping them improve facilities for patients and staff at the hospitals."
